In the beginning
We began working with Sam Acho in October 2024 to consolidate his various roles as an author, speaker, financial expert, former NFL football player, ESPN analyst, and non-profit leader. He needed a new direction to help his extensive fanbase and platform understand the value he brings to the world.
As one of the most thoughtful and compassionate people in his industry, Sam works hard to bring light and hope into an often dark media landscape. We were excited to help him bring his vision to life.
The solution
We spent several weeks understanding and clarifying his message for his audience. With his many distinct roles, audiences, and offerings, consolidating everything into one cohesive message required careful consideration.
Next, we created a new visual brand that reflected this message while highlighting his various roles and the energy of his personal brand. We developed a comprehensive identity system including a new logo, color palette, typography, handwritten signatures, photography direction, textures, and backgrounds—all designed to showcase the diversity of his interests and skills.
We then built a modern website, transitioning from Squarespace to Webflow to better accommodate his assets, media types, channels, speaking engagements, books, and more. Through this process, we discovered that Squarespace wasn't suitable for managing sophisticated content operations.
While Squarespace works well for simple websites and portfolios, it lacks the robust content management features needed for complex operations. Unlike true Content Management Systems (CMS), Squarespace has limitations in:
Content organization and taxonomy: Limited ability to create complex hierarchies, categories, and relationships between content pieces
Custom content types: Restricted options for creating specialized content structures beyond basic pages and blog posts
API accessibility: Limited capabilities for integrating with other platforms and services
Content workflow management: Basic publishing tools that don't support sophisticated editorial processes
Scalability: Challenges in managing large amounts of content and multiple content contributors
For content creators and podcasters managing extensive media libraries, multiple content types, and complex distribution channels, a true CMS platform provides the necessary flexibility and functionality to maintain an effective digital presence.
As a result, we built a new platform on Webflow. Webflow's CMS capabilities make it significantly more powerful for content marketing and podcast hosting:
Dynamic content collections: Create custom content types specifically for podcast episodes, show notes, transcripts, and related resources
Automated layouts: Design templates once and automatically populate them with new content, ensuring consistent presentation across episodes
Advanced filtering and search: Help visitors easily find relevant episodes and content based on topics, guests, or categories
RSS feed generation: Built-in capabilities for podcast feed management and distribution to major platforms
Content relationships: Link related content pieces together, such as connecting episodes to guest profiles or topic categories
Multi-user collaboration: Support for team workflows with different permission levels for content creation and management
These features allow content creators to focus on producing quality content while maintaining a professional, organized digital presence. The platform's flexibility also enables seamless integration with podcast hosting services, analytics tools, and marketing automation systems.
Finally, we helped Sam launch a new podcast with his longtime friend and coach Clif Marshall, where he talks openly about faith, family, finances, and football with some of the world's top athletes.
The results
Over the course of six transformative months, Sam Acho successfully brought his ambitious vision to fruition through several key initiatives. He developed and refined a compelling new message that resonates with his audience, established a cohesive brand identity that authentically represents his values, launched a professionally designed website that showcases his diverse expertise, and created an engaging podcast platform that connects with listeners on a deeper level.
